The legislation on packaging in contact with food is extremely rigorous - from the perspective of consumer protection - complex - also providing for specificities at a local level - as well as constantly evolving. To the already complex framework, the requirements related to the sustainability aspects of packaging have recently been added with the opening towards the use of recycled plastic also for products intended for contact with food as well as the review of the obligations related to the environmental impact of the end of life (packaging waste).
Within this context, Food Defense supports packaging manufacturers, packaging recyclers and food companies by providing the following services:
Verification and/or drafting of the MOCA Declaration of Conformity and the supporting documentation, with reference to EU legislation, specific legislation of the member states and with reference to non-EU legislation.;
Verification and/or drafting of the Declaration of Conformity of recycled plastic MOCA as well as the supporting documentation in accordance with the provisions of EU Regulation 2022/1616;
Verification and/or drafting of the Environmental Declaration of the packaging;
Management of legal obligations related to MOCA regulations, including the requirements of EU Regulation 2022/1616 as well as environmental obligations;
Signature and stamp of MOCA technical documents by Food Contact Expert as economic operator as defined by art. 2, c. 2, letter d) of Regulation 1935/2004/EC;
Definition of the analytical control plan for the raw materials used, the packaging produced or the packaging in use with reference to both the compliance requirements of the MOCA regulation and the requirements of the environmental regulation;

Qualification of suppliers of raw materials/semi-finished products – including suppliers of recycled plastic – and packaging suppliers;
Implementation and/or verification, through internal audits, of the quality control system with reference to GMP;
Risk assessment according to the HACCP method with specific reference to packaging and related raw materials;
Drafting of supply specifications for purchased raw materials or packaging;
Verification and/or definition of the environmental labelling of packaging pursuant to Legislative Decree 116/2020 and pursuant to the specific Conai Guidelines;
Training activities dedicated to specific requests
